Motorcycles have been a passion since I was 12 or 13. Don’t ask me why because I really can’t explain!
In the seventies it was legal to ride a ‘moped’ at 16 years old on a provisional licence with ‘L’ plates displayed front & rear. In general, mopeds are pretty basic forms of transport, literally a bicycle with a small engine (usually arounf 25cc to 50cc).
The ‘Big Four’ Japanese manufactures (Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha) saw an opportunity to capitalise in this market by producing machines that were to all intents & purposes ‘pedal assisted motorcycles’.
